Dinner Time Pinjob for East Hartford’s Bravest

(East Hartford, CT) - Shortly before 1900 hours Thursday the 13th of September East Hartford Fire was dispatched to the area of 40 Connecticut Boulevard for the report of a Motor Vehicle Accident with possible entrapment. 

Engine 1 & Squad 1 were on the box along with ASM Medics. On arrival the officer of the wagon reported a two car crash, the Rescue would be putting the tool to work for one party trapped. 

Took companies just under 20 minutes to free the trapped occupant of the Nissan Sentra & the ASM crew packaged the victim with non life threatening injuries for transport to Hartford Hospital. 

EHFD took up & left the scene with the Police for further investigation & the report.

High Winds Fuel Large Area of Brush At Trinity Thursday Afternoon

(Hartford, CT) - Mid-Afternoon Thursday April 5th Hartford Engine Company 15 was stilled out for the report of a brush fire at Ward & Zion Streets. Upon arrival the Officer reported a large area of brush going higher up the hill on Summitt Street within the Trinity College Campus. The fire spread rapidly as reported prior to FD’s arrival due to the extremely high wind gusts punishing the city all afternoon.

Members of Engine 15 handled alone & operated for approximately an hour extinguishing the large area. A Fire Marshal was requested to the scene for an investigation & no injuries to civilians or HFD members were reported.

Barn & Brush No Match for High Winds on Silver Lane

(East Hartford, CT) - Early evening Wednesday April 4th, 2012, East Hartford Fire Units were dispatched to a reported barn fire at 677 Silver Lane, just east of Uconn’s Rentschler Field. Upon arrival Car 3 (Tour Commander) reported a fully involved 75x20 Barn that would be on the ground within moments of arrival. Companies stretched multiple lines & put Ladder 1’s deck gun into operation dousing the flames. Multiple brush fires were extinguished on the surrounding properties that were a result from flying brands. Manchester Engine 5 was requested to the scene for water supply & Hartford Fire Department Engine 2 & District 2 covered the Quarters of East Hartford Squad 1 & Engine 1 on Main Street as fire coverage was limited. The incident was placed under control within an hour of arrival & no injuries to fire personnel or civilians were reported.
